Problem 2: Green (and Orange) Growth on Walls, Fences & Screens

Green film on stucco, siding, soffits, and pool enclosures is algae and mildew. You'll sometimes also see a rusty-orange growth on shaded walls and fences. That's usually an algae too (commonly Trentepohlia), and its orange pigment makes it look like rust. Both thrive in the same damp, shady spots, and both come back if they're only rinsed off.

Much of Central Florida's water comes from the limestone Floridan aquifer, so it's naturally high in calcium and magnesium. When sprinkler overspray or rinse water dries on glass, it leaves cloudy white spots that ordinary rinsing won't remove, and they build up in layers over time.

The right fix: the right water and the right method
